Cancun, with its white sand beaches and turquoise Caribbean, was once known as the Spring Break capital of the world, but now this world class destination has evolved into the vacation capital of the world, and has resorts, restaurants, shopping and activities for everyone, even the smallest travelers and their families.

Traveling is great for children. It strengthens family bonds, opens their minds to different cultures and experiences and creates memories that last a lifetime. Read on to learn about ten fantastic Aquaworld activities for kids and families in Cancun.


Aquabounce, located at Aquaworld Marina, is an inflatable obstacle course in the water where kids of all ages can climb, slide, crawl, bounce, jump, flip and tumble on giant slides, stairs, platforms, tunnels and trampolines. This safe activity is in a cordoned area where our professional Aquaworld staff is always keeping an eye on participants. Life jackets are mandatory. The ticket to Aquabounce includes unlimited access from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, with the last entrance at 3:00 pm. The activity is for all ages with a minimum height of 1.00 m (3.2 ft). If you are doing other Aquaworld activities as well, Aquabounce is great for any spare time you may have in between.


The Skyrider is the ultimate Cancun parasailing experience. Available in different areas in the Hotel Zone, this is an activity your kids will never forget. Imagine silently flying high above the azure Caribbean like a bird in a comfortable vessel for two with a panoramic view of Cancun’s Hotel Zone, Nichupte Lagoon, Isla Mujeres and the ocean’s different shades of blue. You will be taken to the Aquaworld boat on a waverunner, where after receiving instructions and a life jacket, it will be time for takeoff! If you feel like getting wet at the end, ask the crew to dunk you. Participants but be at least 6 years old. The Skyrider is also available at Playa Mujeres.

Subsee Explorer

Go on an underwater adventure without ever getting wet! Aquaworld’s Subsee Explorar is a yellow submarine / glass bottomed boat that allows passengers to see coral, fish and other marine life, and even part of the Cancun Underwater Museum, including the Veinman, Resurrection, The Speaker and Self-Immolation statues. The tour begins with a lively 20-minute boat ride where water, soda and beer are available. When you arrive at the reef you will board the Subsee for a 30- minute guided tour. When the tour is over the boat will take you back to the starting point. This excursion is for all ages and kids under 4 are free!


Looking for adrenaline rush? Aquatwister is Cancun’s most thrilling ride. This twisting, turning, speeding, racing, spinning, fishtailing adventure aboard a bright yellow speedboat with two 440hp motors will give you the thrill of a lifetime. The tour starts at Aquaworld marina, where you will receive a locker for the items you don’t want to get wet. Then you’ll put on your life jacket, board the speedboat, fasten your seatbelt, and hang on for dear life while the music starts blasting and the wild ride begins and reaches speeds up to 90 kph (50 knots). Participants must be a least 1.20m (4 ft) tall and between 7 and 65 years old.

Jungle Tour

The Jungle Tour is the most famous snorkel tour in Cancun, and Aquaworld does it best. Participants love this activity because they get to drive their own speedboat for two through the mangrove jungle. Not sure you know how to drive a boat? Don’t worry, instruction is included with this tour. After you put your life jackt on, you’ll follow the guide’s boat though Nichupte Lagoon. Don’t forget to look around for wildlife! Next, you’ll emerge from the mangroves into the turquoise Caribbean Sea, and snorkel at Punta Nizuc where you’ll see tropical fish, coral formations and other marine life. Participants must be at least 18 years old to drive, and be between 5 and 65 years old and know how to swim to take the tour.


If you or your kids have always wanted to try surfing, our Flowrider is for you! The FlowRider is a wave machine on an inclined surface and Aquaworld’s Flowrider was the first to open to the public in Cancun and the fifth in all of Mexico, so we are the experts! This activity is fun for both beginners and experts and allows participants to body board on their stomachs, kneel on the board or stand on the board. You can begin with a few rounds on the bodyboard and once you are able to kneel on the board, you can try standing up. At first, one of our expert instructors will help you keep your balance with a rope, and then you can try surfing on your own. Participants must be at least 1.00 m (3.2 ft) tall for bodyboarding and 1.20 m (4 ft) tall for Flowboarding with a maximum weight of 115 kg (253 lbs).


Kids (and parents) love to speed across the Caribbean on a waverunner. Imagine the sun shining on your face and the wind whipping through your hair while your drive our 110HP Yamaha two- seater waverunners for 30 or 60 minutes. No license is necessary, and you will receive instructions and life jackets beforehand. Aquaworld’s professional staff will keep an eye on you to make sure you’re alright and when your time is up, they’ll let you know so you can return to shore. Participants must be at least 5 years to ride and at least 16 years to drive (with an adult).

Day Trip to Isla Mujeres with Snorkel

Head for a tropical island paradise off the coast of Cancun, and snorkel as well! Isla Mujeres is a charming island located off Cancun’s Hotel Zone. Aquaworld’s Day Trip to Isla Mujeres with Snorkel tour will take you there and take your snorkeling during the trip. The day starts with a boat ride across the clear azure Caribbean to the island to drop off the non-snorkelers at the beach club. Those who wish to snorkel will then head to the reef where they will see starfish, turtles, coral and tropical fish. After snorkeling, it will be time to head back to the beach club for relaxation time, drinks and lunch. After lunch, the boat will take you to downtown Isla Mujeres for shopping. When it’s time to return to Cancun, the party continues on the boat with cocktails and fun with the Aquaworld staff. This day trip is suitable for all ages. Snorkeling participants must be at least 5 years old and know how to swim.

Cenote Zapote

When vacationing the Mexican Caribbean, a visit to a cenote is a must! Cenotes are natural freshwater sinkholes, and there are literally thousands of them on the Yucatan Peninsula. Although there are not any cenotes in Cancun, you can visit a cenote near Puerto Morelos with Aquaworld’s Cenote Zapote tour and swim and snorkel in one of three cenotes, swing from a 500 meter high zip line, take a bike ride in the jungle, eat a traditional Yucatecan lunch (cochinita pibil, chicken, beans, rice and fruit) or just relax in a hammock. Participants must be at least 6 years old and weigh a maximum of 145 kg (320 lb).

Snorkel in Musa Manchones

Aquaworld’s Snorkel in Musa Manchones tour is the best way to see MUSA, the Cancun Underwater Museum! What is the Cancun Underwater Museum? It’s a collection of fascinating statues placed below the surface of the ocean in order to create an artificial reef to help protect the natural ones. There are over 455 statues at Manchones reef that are now covered in coral and teeming with marina life. This 5-hour tour includes two snorkel experiences. First you will visit Cancun Underwater Museum and then Manchones Reef. You will see the schools of fish, turtles, rays and other marine life. Participants must be between 8 and 60 years old, know how to swim and be accompanied by an adult if they’re under 18.
