Everyone wants perfect weather during their vacation, but there is no way to accurately predict what the weather will be like during your Cancun holiday, especially if you are planning a trip months ahead of time. However, there are definitely seasonal trends in Cancun weather. Here is what the weather in Cancun is like during the summer months…
When is the best time to visit Cancun?
Cancun weather in June
Hurricane season in the Atlantic begins June 1st and ends November 30th, however most hurricanes occur August through October. The chances that a hurricane will hit during your vacation are extremely low. Cancun has only been hit by two major hurricanes, Gilbert in 1988 and Wilma in 2005, 17 years apart.
June is when summer break starts, at least in the U.S. and Canada, and Cancun starts to really warm up! Most days the high temperature is around 89 degrees Fahrenheit (31 degrees Celsius). In mid-May, whale sharks start to arrive in the Cancun area, so in June they are settled in and swimming with whale sharks tours are available.
Aquaworld offer the opportunity to swim with these gentle giants of the sea with the Swim with Whale Sharks tour. You will be picked up right at your resort and have the opportunity to be in the water with the whale sharks 2 or 3 times during the 2 hours the boat is in the area. Afterwards the group will head to Isla Mujeres for lunch and some relaxing beach time at the beach. You’ll be tired after this exhilarating experience with these docile creatures.
Cancun weather in July
July is generally the hottest month in Cancun and summer break begins in Mexico and Central and South America. The daily temperature generally reaches a high of 90 degrees (32 degrees Celsius).
Fishing in Cancun
Summer is a great time to go fishing in Cancun. Aquaworld offers private 4, 6, 8, 10 and even 12-hour fishing trips, or shared 6-hour fishing trips. The crew of experienced fishermen will take you out to sea on a 34ft x 11ft fastboat and you will fish for Sailfish, Marlin and huge Dolphin Fish.
You can even help develop research and knowledge about the migration patterns of fish. Aquaworld runs a tag and release program and is the only research center in Cancun. The coolest part of this program is the fact that you will be alerted if your fish is caught somewhere else in the world.
Cancun weather in August
In August summer break continues for the U.S., Canada, Mexico and South America. The high temperature is often 91 degrees Fahrenheit (almost 33 degrees Celsius).
Rain in Cancun
Winter, spring, summer or fall…it can rain anytime of the year in Cancun, but forecasted rain often means a quick shower, or it might rain in the Riviera Maya, but be sunny in the Cancun Hotel Zone. In general, it rains the most in September and the least in March.
So, if you’re going to plan a vacation, Cancun is the spot. Book your Swim with Whale Sharks and Private or Shared Fishing Trip, because the best time to visit Cancun is now!
