The Velas Latinoamérica 2018 is approaching and the venue will be nothing more and nothing less than the island of Cozumel. The regatta will take place in August and to prepare, we will tell you everything you need to know about this event of international stature.
Third edition of Velas Latinoamérica
This event was born in 2010 to commemorate the first acts of independence in South America. The Armed Forces of Chile and Argentina were in charge of planning this event and thus being able to highlight the patriotic events of these acts of independence that were fundamental to history. Candles Latin America has had a great relevance in our country. This is due to the fact that in 2012 the event was held in Cancun during the XXV Inter-American Naval Conference, it was in 2012 when it was determined that Sailing Latin America would be held every 4 years. It was also determined that the host countries would determine the shipping route. This year it was the turn of the Republic of Chile and its Navy.
The navigation route for this year 2018 began on March 25 in Rio de Janeiro and will end on September 2 in Veracruz, Mexico. One of the most important areas that you will visit during Velas Latinoamérica will be the Island of Cozumel. Did you know that it is also known as the Island of the Swallows? Characterized by having the most beautiful reefs and corals that can be found in Mexico, its waters are perfectto dive or snorkeling. In this gem of the Caribbean, whatever the activity you do you will be amazed. How to get to Cozumel?
To witness this magnificent regatta from the island itself, you must first get to Playa del Carmen. There you can have aoverseas ferry, the departures are every hour so if you are late or early, you just have to wait a bit and the ferry will arrive soon.
