Nature in the Underwater Museum of Art

After seven months, some sculptures that were submerged in the Underwater Museum of Artthey begin to be decorated thanks to the marine flora. Little by little the flora and fauna of the place adorn the artistic pieces of the museum.

On August 29, they arrived at the facilities of the Cancun Underwater Museum of Art the first contributions of Elier Amado Gil with two collections “Understanding and” Blessings “. Today after a few months ‘the six men seated’ in the Nizuc room of the Underwater Museum of Art began to adorn themselves thanks to the nature that comes to life in the sculptures of the Cuban artist.

This collection is a representation of the cultural diversity, tolerance and communication of the people of Cancun before thousands of tourists who visit Quintana Roo throughout the year. The center of the pieces is a local stone, which symbolizes Cancun and the six men are locals, foreigners and tourists who live in this paradisiacal place in Mexico at some time of the year.

This is one of the many collections of the Cuban artist. His passion for art led him to the San Alejandro National Academy of Fine Arts, where he graduated with a degree in sculpture in 2006. Six years later, Elier chose Mexico as the place to continue his work as a sculptor where he joined the Cancun Cultural Institute as a teacher.

To later join the Cancun Underwater Museum of Art with some of its collections. Today they are ‘bearing fruit’ as part of the artificial reef.

The MUSA is a tourist attraction that aims to create an artificial reef, as well as to demonstrate the interaction of art with the conservation of the environment.

Underwater Museum of Art in two rooms

The MUSA is available in two rooms; Nizuc and Manchones in these two rooms around 500 sculptures are exhibited, all life-size and permanently exhibited. The interesting thing about this interactive museum is that all the sculptures are a representation of daily life and were created by 6 artists who captured his ingenious ideas in the sculptures.

Each and every one of the sculptures went through a suitable process for their creation, the specialized materials allow promoting coral life and respecting the marine fauna that inhabits this part of Cancun and Isla Mujeres.

If you have not yet visited the Cancun Art Museum, you can take a tour with Aquaworld and get to know the pieces on display, as well as the marine life that will welcome you with intense colors.
