SNORKELING AT THE UNDERWATER ART MUSEUM IN CANCUN MUSA

Visit 470 submerged sculptures! This is one of the best snorkeling tours you can do in Cancun! Our MUSA snorkeling tour offers a unique excursion where you can visit the statues underwater, near the Manchones reef area. Life-size statues come to life thanks to the corals and algae, as well as marine life and many fish.

The coral reef sites in Cancun have received a high influx of visitors over the years, which has caused some damage to the natural areas and ecosystem. Snorkeling in MUSA is a unique way to keep people away from natural reefs while creating an artificial reef where coral can grow and marine life can reproduce.

THE MUSEUM IN CANCUN CURRENTLY CONSISTS OF 475 SUBMERGED SCULPTURES WITH PLANS FOR MANY MORE

The sculptures at the Underwater Art Museum are submerged in three galleries: Punta Nizuc, Punta Sam, and Manchones. The latter is located between the coasts of Cancun and Isla Mujeres and is currently home to 455 of the statues.

This 5-hour tour consists of snorkeling in MUSA and then the Manchones reef, where you can appreciate schools of fish, turtles, rays, and more.

The sculptures you can see in the area include: The Cross of the Bay, Man on Fire, The Dream Collector, Bacab, Anthropocene, The Silent Evolution (450 sculptures), a Beetle, and The Promise. We will do our best to allow you to appreciate most of the sculptures (provided the weather and visibility are optimal).

Currently, these mysterious statues are covered in algae and coral polyps, and the plan worked - Cancun is now home to the world's largest artificial reef.
